Kenwood Q System settings?

I just purchased a new Kenwood Excelon KDC-X769 head unit and I'm trying to reach the optimum settings. Can anyone offer advice regarding the best Q settings? For example, the manual doesn't explain what the 1.0, 1.25, 1.50 and 2.0 settings mean? How do these settings affect the performance of the unit?

It is the "width" of the bass around the center frequency.

So then, the higher the setting (1.0, 1.5, 2.0) the wider the curve and therefore frequencies adjacent to the center will be boosted slightly higher?
