I know I know its illegal........ In any event is there any way to bypass the parking brake on the kenwood XXV05? I have heard ground the green parking brake wire.....then heard that hasn't worked. I personally don't want to just start grounding wires on my expensive head unit, ya know? Thanks guys for all the help thus far.

are you watching videos while driving?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/dont.gif.ed5870f9483b695f9745036963f41c24.gif

Nope not at all. My wife in the passenger seat however might want to. I actually like driving especially long distances, so I don't get bored. I just enjoy the ride. However I ski alot and there really isn't anywhere close. Which means winter time I spend hours upon hours in my car with my brother. There is only so much we can talk about before we are staring off in silence. This will give him something to do also. But the main thing is I HATE government regulations telling me what I can and can't do in my car. So its more for the fact to say "IF" I wanted to I could, and the government needs to go back to doing what it should be doing and protecting our freedom. BS laws piss me off. However they are necessary cause some morons can't keep their eyes on the road while their passenger watches a movie. I have a cell phone and I don't talk while driving, if I do its short 30 sec. convos locating someone or something. Well now that I have completely diverted from my original topic we will return to your original programming. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

groudn that wire, you'll be good to go

ground that green parking brake wire? I haven't bought this unit yet, plan on ordering it in the next week or so. Basically wanna get ALL my research and questions done before I drop at least 1k on a unit. To me thats alot of money on something so small. So far everything has checked off to be a good solid purchase eventhough its almost a 2 year old unit(meaning out of production). Plan on getting a refurb, or left over unit.

I don't know if it's the same on the Kenwood as others, but you might have to throw a switch on that ground wire. Flip the switch on when you want the system to think its grounded, and sometimes they require it to turn off then back on just as a check.

I think the Kenwood might not have this check thing, and you can just ground it out.

yeah I have heard that on some units. I guess the only way to test it is to get the unit and try it.

parking brake wires on indash units should ALL go to ground.

parking brakes on cars are a -

so the wire on the unit goes to ground. you can also run a switch in line to turn on/off this wire to make it act like a parking brake.

So any wire that is associated with this parking brake thingy on the unit needs to go to a ground? If not necessary then I don't want any more switches than I have in my jeep.

Word. Put a switch on the parking brake wire and you should be good. Might need to do a sequence of on/off to get it to turn on.

My Kenwood 6019 was just a green wire to ground.

I think a dvd player in a car is kind of a waste of cash. Thought it was cool when I bought it, watched 3 movies on it and haven't watched one since. The double din fits my dash better than anything else would though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
