Kenwood KDC-X590 display

Will the unit still operate but have a blank display?

As in - you can listen to the radio or CDs or whatever - you just have no visual confirmation of the key presses you're making?

Sounds like dirty contacts between the faceplate and the unit to me.

Also try to reset the unit.

If all that doesn't work, check that the power, acc, and ground wires are secure. I know some people who just twist the wire ends together and wrap them with tape. Over time, they'll tend to come loose. Closed-end caps, butt connectors, or soldering are really the way to go.

The unit functions okay except the display is dead. It started by being intermittent and now it does not work at all. I wondered about doing a reset and the customer was wondering about replacing the front face plate. I think it is probably a poor connection somewhere.

I will check the contacts on the face plate and then try to do the reset.

Thanks,

Charlie
