I bought this cd player from someone on here, and it works fine, but lately its been acting up a bit...

My screen sometimes doesnt work...especially in the cold. in the warmer weather, it seems like it has to be in the perfect position to even turn on. the front plate moves into 3 different angles. In the cold, when i turn on the car, it seems like it need roughly 5 minutes to warm up before it even turns one. sometimes once a cd is playing, and i hit the face wrong...the screen turns off and the cd still plays, but none of the buttons work, and the screen doesnt turn on, but the cd is still playing...any ideas on how i can fix it somehow, or something i can do? let me know.

My first thought would be to very gently clean the contacts on the backside of the face and the corresponding ones on the stereo's chassis itself.

Try that and let us know if it makes any difference at all.

how would i gently clean them effectively? i dont want to break or ruin anything, but im not incompentent, with a lil info, i can try it. there is only one thing on the back where they contact. like usual. i dunno how it works though, cuz when i hit the eject, and the face comes down, its still is on, but not touching in that spot. oh well...if you could tell me how i can clean it, that would be great. thanks

okay, i dunno how to clean it, but i was looking at it...and somehow i think its gettin loose or wobbly somewhere, and i dunno where.

A Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol

look for a row of copper contacts on the back of the faceplate

yea i saw the row of copper contacts...i just wasnt sure how to clean it, but since it slides electronically, there is a thing that is like plastic flat and wide "string" or something, i dunno how to explain it, should that be cleaned also? thanks guys.

Thats a data cable ribbon, you can clean it by gently rubbing the exposed copper cotacts with the Q-tip.

If the data cable is cracked in any way it will also cause the problems you describe, in this case the data cable needs to be replaced by a repair shop.

replaced by a repair shop? that prolly would cost more than just gettin a new one would it? btw, i did just clean it, and it seems to be better. not perfect. but much better. thanks a bunch.
