Kenwood HU problem

Just for grins, try using a different recording program, try buring a few files with windows xp's built in recording, or windows media player.

I realize they ****. Ok, they **** a whooole lot, but just try recording a file or two and see if they'll play.

Nero has so many crazy options, and standalone units (especially dvd players, but probably hu/mp3 players) are really anal about things, if everything's not strict iso standard format.

TOC Error means Table Of Contents Error (meaning that the deck is having trouble decoding the info on the disc in the first place)

Most likely one of two things needs to happen:

1) It needs to be professionally cleaned (much more thorough than the commercially available little brushes on the disc surface-type cleaners will give you)

2) The laser head has come out of alignment and needs to be realigned.

Having either (or both) of these things done by a competent service center would be considerably less expensive than replacing the HU altogether. If you like the HU you have now and don't care to replace/upgrade it at the moment then I would suggest this would be the best route for you to follow.

thanks prowler. you have be in my little a$$ town in michigan, port huron. mickey shores, best buy we have a car stereo place but they really dont do car audio that much mostly truck and car accessories (sp). yeah i like the HU its basic and met my needs. nothing fancy

trying to burn a new cd with about 20 mp3's will go check them and try an original cd for poops and giggles too. also get the HU's model #.

Ya, it's pretty easy to get something out-of-whack with nero. It has user-definable options that go well outside the realm of universally compatible cd/dvd structure.

Just make sure the disc is closed, so no further writing can be done on the disc, the computer wont even write the table of contents to the disc until it's closed.

Kenwood KDC-MP822 model, plays regular cd's tried a new cd burned today and it play. it took abit to read it but it played. i'm thinking just buy a new one. theres no one around here to take it to, any suggestions.
