In my current situation, the 24bit dac is important to me because I do still play the silver disks.

The front aux in is important to me because I will be playing Pandora Internet Radion from my laptop via the aux in. (this deck will be installed in the cabin of my boat...not in a car.)

I don't have an Ipod or Iphone or MP3 player yet, but my concern about that is if a friend is with me that has one, I want it to be able to work and I probably will get one at some point in the future.

I guess I'm leaning towards the X493. Thank you to all for your contributions and trying to help me make the best choice.

Yep, I think you're right! I guess sometimes I tend to over think things.....just trying to make the right decision.

Haha, I hear you about over thinking things before making a decision. Check out my thread about Image Dynamics and you'll see how confused I am.

i have a mp638u i liked it so much i got another one for my other car.it has the usb plug hanging off the back so i use a 4gb flash drive and i'm done no mp3 player needed.i got them off egay for 100 bucks a piece shipped i don't like the front usb input at all looks shitty mine is in the glove box

check out the X890.. Its an 06 model, but includes Phatnoise music manager..Badass unit. It Talks the folder name, or artist, or what ever else you name your stuff. See my vid to see what I'm talking about.

that does appear to be a badass deck; however, I think the front usb and aux in are important for the OP

I have the USB whip mounted into the dash, "So it is Up front" I like it that way. I feel if it plugs into the unit, then it impededs the operation of the unit for adjustments.

Also it has Aux in, Thats what the tv/vcr is hooked into via rca inputs.

The newer units are nice as well, but the dont include the Phatnoise, just a Kenwood generic type music manager.
