Kenwood going into protect

I recently installed a kenwood 9103D and a pioneer premiere ts-w3004spl into my 99 camaro with 4 gauge power/ground. The DVC woofer is wired in parallel presenting a 2 ohm load to the amp. When it hits hard and the capacitor reads below 11 or 12, the red power light will shut off, and in about 30 seconds it will kick back on. Bass boost on the amp is all the way down. I have tried messing with the input sensivity also. My friends cannot figure this out, neither can I. Any ideas??? one of my friends told me to install another capacitor. This is all with the car running.

holy batman

your amp is probably shutting off do to lack of current. first i suggest you properly set your gains. there is a gain setting tutorial in the amp forum. if your amp is clipping, it'll draw a lot more current then needed.

capacitors do not help weak electrical systems for the love of anything holy do not add another one. i suggest you remove the one you got since it is not doing you any good for what you need

do a big 3 upgrade. there is a thread stickied in the electrical forum on how to do this.

good luck and punch your friend in the nuts

Gain's have been properly set.

you said you were "messing" around with input sensitivity. if it is properly set you shouldn't be messing with it.
Yes, I WAS messing around with all the knobs. Read a guide online and I am set. Any other ideas on the actual problem?

I'm almost certain that it is the voltage drop when the sub hits hard. If it stays around 13 volts it is fine, anything below that, low 12's high 11's and it will kick right off. Any way I can stable up my power besides a new alternator/battery?

As has already been mentioned multiple times in this thread alone.....upgrade your Big 3 underhood wiring! A step-by-step tutorial of the process can be found here.

Big 3 is HIGHLY over-rated on this forum.....

what do you mean by overrated?
I second that query...

Battery --> alternator = 2 gauge

Battery ground --> chassis = 2 gauge

Engine block --> chassis --> a bunch of 4/8 gauge

I ran all new wiring with the motor swap a few months back.

what do you mean a bunch of 4/8 gauge? all 3 should be done in 1/0 gauge wire
I mean that on my block there is not just a single ground cable that mounts to the frame. Multiple ground wires I can visually see 4 right now. some are 4 gauge some are 8. I think I am going to send the amp back and get a replacement.
