Kenwood fuse holder

I'm doing an install on my car, got a Kenwood 617 DVD player hooked into the main dash. It was working fine until this morning. Unit had no power. Tried reseting it, checking for exposed speaker wire, looked at fuses, nothing. Finally tested to see if I was getting any power to the small holder that holds a 5 amp fuse. Seemed to be a circuit inside the holder too. Fuse wasn't blown, no power tho. I cut the assembly off and connected the wires. Power. Unit turned on, played - everything. Whatever that thing was, it was dead. NOW, is that small unit important? I am not sure of its purpose as it not only held a 5 amp fuse but also a circuit. If it is important, I will order a new one from Kenwood and reconnect. If its not important, F it as the unit is working. I am using the factory wire harness so there is fuse protection to the head unit.

Edit: Did some research and found out it is an Inline noise filter. Is that an issue with a 4th gen Camaro Z28 or do I not even need to bother?
