kenwood face won't rotate

I have a KDC-715S with a rotating face, or I did. When the face is installed it rotates to the open position like when you want to put a cd in, and when I take it off the face holder rotates to the correct position. Any ideas?

the ribbon cable is bad... happens in the kenwoods ALLLL the time

either that ^ or the trim bezel is on incorrectly. is it a new problem? was it working right before?
