Kenwood DTA Setup

Hey guys, i have a Kenwood DDX-812 and am trying to get a handle on how to setup the DTA feature. I have been using the preset ones in the headunit but am not quite sure how to set it up to be perfect for my Tahoe. I have read alot in here about charts that come with other brand units but Kenwood pretty much gives you nothing, you are lucky the book even tells you how to access it. I can remember people using time delay years ago but that was in miliseconds so i am not sure how to crossreferance it to feet etc. I am hoping some of you Kenwood users can pass some knowledge along so i can get this thing right....thanks!
