Kenwood DDX812 or JVC kw-avx810

thats 1 of the things that i want. Also the ability to remove the screen on the jvc is really a plus
Yup, thats kind of retarded. Would be nice to do music and movies from usb...I don't even have an ipod, nor do I want one just to store movies on. Guess there is always burnin dvd's.

me either not tryin to buy a ipod just 4 that. its alot cheaper to just buy a hd, thats y i wanted to b able to play off the usb. i was tryin to get rid of havin to use cds and dvds

yeah I actually have the JVC Unit and thus far have not burned a CD or DVD since. I just store everything on my harddrive and go. The JVC manual says it can only handle a 10gb hard drive but i have a little portable 120gb drive and its works like a champ. And removable face for security and peice of mind is also a huge plus

so would you recommend this hu, any pro and cons? how fast is the usb wit the harddrive? are you able to put pictures as the background?

I would recommend the headunit. i honestly havent really explored all the features as for setting pics as wallpaper but other than that its a good solid headunit. The 120gb hdd takes i say about 30 seconds to read. The way i get around it is I have a 2gd sd card also that reads immediatly so its not like im jsut sitting there waiting for thr HHD to load. The menus are very easy to navigate and its not like you have to crack out the manual everytime you need to do something.

BTW I have no experience with the Kenwood headunit so I cant say which is better, just sharing my experience with the JVC headunit

is there anything you dont like about it?

sometime if its really really hot, the unit doesnt power up untill the vehicles inside temp cools down. Ususally within a min or two with the ac on. And when I mean hot im talking like 100 degrees sitting in a unshaded parking lot of 8 hours. Ive never had it happen except when leaving work for the day

Ive had the Kenwood for a few days now. You want the Kenwood. It is awesome. Ive had a ton of decks in my day and the is by far the best. I bought the Nav module also and is way better than the Pioneer D3 I had before.
