Featured Kenwood DDX5706S Screen Blank

The screen on my DDX5706S is blank, but the radio still works, the touch screen works, my phone still plays over the speakers. I cannot find the reset button. Can someone please tell me where the reset button is on this stereo. I at least need to try the reset.

Has anyone else had this problem with this model? If so, what was the solution? I had it professionally installed in my Miata in 2019.

If you can't remove it from the dash to unplug it, perhaps try unhooking your car battery for 5 to 10 minutes, then hook it back up to see if that resets it. Otherwise a black screen might indicate that it needs repair unfortunately. Note that, disconnecting power may totally reset it and your phone may not connect to it anymore since you can not access the screen if it still has the fault. At night time you can hold a bright flashlight up against the screen while it's on to see if you see any picture.

Also, I skimmed the manual briefly and didn't see anything about having a reset button, so not sure on that.

Could also try holding down the power button in the top left. Hold it down for 10+ seconds or until all the lights turn off on the radio. Disconnecting the power (like above) would also likely reset it, but might be able to just toggle the power.

If none of that works, I'd go back to the place that installed it. They might be familiar with issues with that radio if it's one they sold a lot of. I had an older Kenwood double DIN and had some screen issues (probably 10 years ago). I don't recall if the screen stopped working completely or had other issues. I remember it had something to do with the panel that goes on top of the screen. They said it was too tight. They removed it, was able to get the screen working again, and then re-attached it. I never had additional problems with that radio after that.

Good excuse to replace it. Based on the age, it may have just reached its useful life. Look for a unit with all the features you desire, and good luck.
