kenwood amp with infinity subs

I bought a 2 channel kenwood amp (KACX201T) to go with my 2 12 inch infinity subs (300rms each)to replace my old sony xplode amp(1000watt). The kenwood amp doesnt seem to pound near as hard as the old xplode. Is it a big enough amp for these subs or do I have something set up wrong? PS: im kind of new to this.

what's the rms rating on the xplode, was it a two channel as well, also are your subs dual or single voice coil, and what ohm load do you have them wired at?

No idea about the rms rating on the explode its an older model that I bought used but it was a 1 channel. The subs are dual voice coil (i think) and im not sure about the last thing you asked. Im really new to this.

my guess would be that the xplode was class d amp and provided more power to your subs, stay around on the forum for a while and you should learn a lot quick

Ok thanks. The xplode overheated and now it doesnt work anymore and im kinda pissed driving around with no subs so today i finally coughed up the 400$ and got that kenwood amp and now its not good enough lol. What type of amp do you recomend? Do/should I have to get a 1 channel amp?

A single-channel amp is generally never a bad idea to power subs with.

I don't know what model Sony amp you used to have so I haven't any clue what the RMS output might have been but if it was a monoblock most likely it output more than your new eXcelon amp. Sorry to hear you gave $400 for it as it's a '99 model amplifier...

But nonetheless the RMS output for the X201T was factory rated as follows:

RMS output with 12.0vdc input ~

50w/ch X 2 channels @ 4 Ohm

100w/ch X 2 channels @ 2 Ohm

200w/ch X 1 channel mono bridged

RMS output with 14.4vdc ~

75w/ch X 2 channels @ 4 Ohm

150w/ch X 2 channels @ 2 Ohm

300w/ch X 1 channel mono bridged

Not really meant to drive a pair of subs

Yah im not up to date on this stuff the guy scammed me. Trying to get my money back now and hes saying no because its a discontinued amp. haha wow 400 bucks, you can get a hardcore amp with that money.
