Kenwood amp goes into protection help

i have a Kenwood kac x401 m that as soon as i wire it up goes into protection. i know i have it wired up right and that none of my wiring should make it do that but the amp does it every time i cut the car on and stays in protection mode. anyone know how i can test this or see if i can find the problem?
