3000 w performance teqnique runnin 2 15 inch alpine type r at 1 ohm...also have a 1000 w directed for highs my question was if i can hook it up with the regualr car battery optima red or do i need to isolate the two because one is a 12v and one is a 16 volt

you would need a 18v+ charging system and your amps would need to be able to handle 17+ volts

Buy 12v, leave 16v for the professionals.

Sure, you can use the 16v to power your system (provided it can handle 16v), but you won't be able to charge it back up. Your alternator is built to charge a 12v system. It WONT charge a 16v battery.
