set the xover on your amp then. try to have it around 80hz.

I set it back on my amp at80hz, can't tell a difference.......Still get a shit load of bass up there, I have everything set at -7 and it still is horrible, Now i can't listen to any bass at all without my fronts distorting. Does anyone have advice on how to get around this....For god sake my SOny HU i had for 3 years sounded 10x better than this POS deck.

if you hear distortion, your amp might be clipping my friend. check your gains on your comp amp.

yeah, sounds like the only logical idea. But then i'd have to take everthing apart again...........my door panels are breaking because i keep having to take them on and off on and off..

Gains are less than half, dont have a dmm handy.

well up the frequency on the comp amp. maybe try 100. also remember you are highpassing, not lowpassing.

i've played with it all over the frequency board, no matter what, i still get bass and distortion i'm gonna try the bass blockers, if that dont work then shit, im done with car audio

lol have you tried turning off your sub while doing all this to actually hear if there isn't bass up front?

also if you hear distortion, still turn the gains down. its possible that half way still might be clipping.

My friend, i can't get anything out of that sub until i turn up the volume, keep in mind i have ALL bass settings at -7......at all frequences lol, so i cant even hear the sub.......It is pure distortion up front, tweets are extremly harsh too, got the crossovers on those set at -6db and -7 treb every adjustment on the HU

kinda shitty, tweets play the highs too loud and are very harsh.....

..and the mids play the lows too loud and they distort. what a joke

yeah thanks, but the only luck i have is bad luck.

polk sent me one bad crossover, so why the **** wouldn't the other one be bad too....probably is. who knows, look like its time to get the sony back all u sony bashers it's better than 06 alpines (sQ and functionality wise) but the alpines take a huge edge on looks....and who gets into this for looks c'mon

and i still can't figure out why my sub quiets itself at high volumes either, and the amp doesnt even shut off its like it hits the invisible attention button...

well i just figured out another problem, at Volume 23 on the alpine the fronts now go quiet, and loose alot of treble, almost sounds mono....and so on it does that, but volume 22 it sounds fine 23 it compleetely changes...WTF? i changed the gains to like 1/4 up......higherd the crossover and now thers not as much bass comin......but now it doe that weird shit at volume 23

Just an update, i got the crossover/speakers sounding much better. I put a bass blocker on the right speaker so far, makes a big difference. tomorrow i'm goin to do the left. The only problem i still have is on the HU on volume 23 the sound gets quieter and changes sound....but if you reset the HU it will be normal for awhile then go back.....hard to explain..has anyone had any problems with anything like this on their alpine HU's...

I have that problem too.

I have a very similar system, MRP-F450 amp, Type R 6.5 comps and 6x9's. 9857 HU.

I don't have a sub, but with my amp tuned properly it sounds pretty ****ing good except for the rattle which i'm hoping to fix with dynamat.

I find the type r's tweeters to be a little harsh as well, i run the treble at -4 but the bass i keep around 0 (hip hop) or 4/5 (rock etc)

I have the same probelm with volume 23 though. If I put it to 23 it sounds like my components almost turn off... or the bass driver turns off atleast. It's weird.

Luckily for me I'm quite happy with the volume I can achieve at 18/19 so this hasn't been a problem for me, but i did wonder WHY it happened.
