I have my amp at a comfortable gain and my settings are fine on my head unit but i keep blowing my tweeters. Does anyone know why this is happening. I've always been smart about not overpowering my system too and nothing has been overdriven in anyway, can anyone help? Thanks

if my tweeters are rated at 97 DB and my components are rated at 88 DB, could that be the problem. Should i get some tweeters that are closer to 88 Db? I broke my tweeters that came with the comps on accident, so thats why i am using these tweeters

Boom, sounds like the answer!

What was the impedence on the comp set tweeter compared to the "new" tweeter? If if is different, your xover point has changed (if running passives)

i dont know the impedence on the tweeter itself, but the comps say there rated at 4 ohms.

if my comps are 88 db, should i buy a pair of tweets that are around 88 db? I'm thinking since the sensitivity is much different between the two that when i turn the speakers up at a loud volume the tweeters are getting much louder alot quicker allowing them to blow.
