So I just got a system installed last week. 2 12 inch Pioneer subs and an 800 watt Boss 2 channel amp. Only problem is..I keep blowing amp fuses. Ive gone thorugh 5 this week. Have no idea why its doing it either..I mean I have a basic idea..but I dont know how to fix it. When I go for too high a volume it blows. Any body with some help? And also..right now my amp runs a 15 fuse..can I run a 10 fuse or any other 'size' or is that dangerous?? Thanks.

you "could" run a 10a fuse, but it will just blow faster. if you run higher than 15, you will probably damage your amp.

Make sure your gains aren't too high?

Check the wiring, and MAKE SURE, you are not shorting to ground. if any foreign mass is touching that power wire, fix it.

you need to check for a short somewhere in your setup, make sure there is no way speaker leads can contact when u turn it up, maybe they are vibrating to a point where they can contact. also, double triple check your ground for a good connection. last, if its neither of those, check the amps internals

Alright thanks guys. Ill check the gains and wiring and shit and make sure everything is sound. I put a 10 fuse in and it seems alright for now. I guess ill just go get hella 15 fuses. Til I decide to go and get a new amp.

You said you had the system installed?

Go back to where they installed it and see if they can fix the problem. It shouldn't be your responsibility to find the problem if you paid for an installation.

edit: you're also using a boss amp, throw that in the trash with the swiftness and get a quality amp

They said theyre not liable for anything that has to do with the subs or amp cause i didnt buy it from them. *****es.

and ha yeah...i know im lookin for an amp right now. what would be a good brand and power output would be good to go with??

You bought a POS amp then PAID someone to install it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Spend some time reading threads here and you will learn how to choose and install the gear yourself.

Is the fuse on the amp, or on the wire?

What gauge power wire?

What fuse is supposed to be on the amp? Read the manual.
