JVC Supports Hemp

Indeed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Im surprised a company as large as JVC would use such a politically incorrect logo and basis for a speaker line. Not that Im offended or anything, but Im still surprised. A small start-up company trying to make a quick name for themselves in the industry, sure. But from someone like JVC, well Ive known about this a while now and still surprises me. Doubley so considering its not even really canabis hemp. lawl

I'm probly gonna get flamed for this since I have a low post count, but I'd like to point out the cone is only 10% hemp. And, according to the other dude, it's banana hemp. Go stoner logic!

In all fairness, many composite cones are mostly paper with the other, higher profile material added in for strengthening. Kevlar is one example of this. There's just no getting around the fact that pressed pulp paper is an excellent speaker cone material. People just hate it because its not new technology. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I doubt the marketing strategies of a large corporation are boiled down to some stoners in a back room. This is a simple marketing ploy by a company out to make money. Stoner logic would be contemplating burning your speaker when your bag runs out.

Never said first you stupid ****.
I said JVC NOW CARRIES HEMP PRODUCTS.

/end of the ****ing thread for you, GTFO.

Yeah, marketing people would never lie, would they? If the website shows a pot leaf and the logo is "high fidelity" that must be proof its canabis hemp right? Sorry, but it is in fact banana hemp, straight from John Janowitz's mouth:
"There is funny thing about all this hemp everyone is using in cones lately.... are you ready.... It's not even cannabis hemp. I met the guy who did all the research behind the material. They tried to find a way to use cannabis hemp, but found it was literally useless as a material for cones. The only way it could be used at all was to take a small percentage, maybe 10% and mix it in with standard paper fibers and that would actually decrease the strength and damping of the paper itself. What they are actually using is manilla hemp, which comes from a banana tree. It's a very long, strong fiber that has good damping properties for a cone material. Bet that's not in the manual. It should come with a picture of a banana on the cone instead. That would be interesting, although i don't think it would sell that well.

who is john? not trying to be a dick, serious question. a speaker company owner?

and one thing that got me thinking...he said that mixing 10% is the only way it would really be used. JVC...happens to use 10% of this "hemp". is it not possible, that it may have cannabis hemp then? i dont really care, just wondering.

Owner/operator of Stryke Audio. I cannot confirm what is suggested, only that a respected man in the field says his direct research on the subject found it to be banana hemp.

Seems slightly irresponsible of a large corporation to be reinforcing the cannabis idea, even if it is just a lie for banana tree hemp!

Some soccer moms are bound to complain..only a matter of time.

why? industrial hemp is legal to import and sell in the U.S....

audioholic: ahh, i think i remember reading some info from devildriver about him a while back.

Yes, how dare a large corporation support cannabis, its the devil weed.

I seriously doubt a couple complaining soccer moms would get JVC to change their sub line up. If JVC has any brains at all they would already be expecting some flack for it. Besides, unless you can point out where JVC is doing something illegal, the president himself could complain and it wouldn't matter.

JVC got desperate.
hasnt been the first time......remeber the warren g subs ? It took them years to get rid of that old stock.
