Lights on, Illumination changes to negative.

Lights off, screen brightens.

Choosing color from factory options, Amber.

Light Blue

Greenish color.

With flash, drowns out the lcd but you can see the Head unit installed.

Yeah I love the how I can choose the color I want. when the cell rings the radio changes color to let you know.

If your car has a "bright" interior you can make the lighting white and it will not wash out in direct light. nice option. you can choose your night lighting and day lighting. Even on high end units you hear guys complaining how they wash out in direct light.

So this unit doesn't have time alignment etc.. but it does everything else just fine. Remember you are not braking the bank here for a decent unit.

I'm glad someone finally put a review up on this headunit. Seems solid but reviews are hard to find.

Do you have any experience using an ipod with it? I was wondering how lines of information are displayed when browsing the ipod. Like how many artists are shown at one time, etc.

I noticed it showed 3 lines of information for the colors, if it's that way for the ipod I'll probably buy it this week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's funny, I emailed JVC to ask them and they said one line of information but the way they worded their sentence made me question if they understood what I was asking.

Remember I bought mine on ebay use Bing cashbach (nintendo Wii, secret word) for 15% cashback!

When the music is playing it scrolls across the screen but when searching for music it is the 3 line text.

When using a usb flash drive with mp3s loaded on it, do folders and mp3 files display in alphabetical order? I know the KD-R810 does (as did the KD-R800) so my guess is that the R900 will do the same. I've got an Alpine CDA-117 and the usb just messed up on me, hard drives, usb flash drives and ipods all give me 'current error' messages.

My main gripe is that all decks sort files and folders in usb drives by creation date. The JVC R810 is the *only* deck ive come across that does organization in alphabetical order, and it does it really fast too (scrolling through lists proved to be really really fast).

Anyway, would really REALLY appreciate it if someone could let me know! Thanks!

Any details you can give us with USB flash drives? Does the deck detect 16gb flash drives fully loaded with 2,000 or more mp3s? Does it detect it fast? Thanks!

I've only used a 30gb ipod and a 1gb flash drive with it. I'd say its pretty quick, faster then my pioneer deh-4900.

Pretty soon I'll be switching to an external hard drive though because I like the way it navigates those better then the ipods. With the ipod, when you click menu it brings you to the "playlist/artist/album..." menu which I don't like. But with the hard drive it just brings you into the folder you are currently in which is great for me because usually I just want to swtich albums within an artist

yeah those JVC's are some great bang-for-your-buck radios, i just picked up a JVC KD-AHD59( dicontinued now it's the KD- HD69) and i love it, quite posssibly the best headunit in it's price range
