JVC Illumination wire help

Hi Everyone,glad I found this site! I'm installing CD reciever in my old fishing truck,someone cut the original radio wiring harness plugs off so I hard wired my current CD player years back but needed something with USB/AUX ports so I purchased a JVC KD-R540 which has a "Illumination" orange/white wire,the manual does not say much about the wire.Does it connect to the rheostat Dimmer wire for the dash lights or to the wire that gets full 12 volts when the park/headlights are turned on? It can be left unused. I rarely connect that wire unless the harness provides it.
