JVC Head Units...good? bad?

love mines, and its rare now too. 5v preouts, 3 way active crossover, time alignment, the works. also the ipod controller is good, not the best, i liked pioneer more, but it does the job.
Ya the one you have looks pretty nice. I was also debating on the Pioneer Premier DEH-410UB as well cuz I could get it for $150 from sonicelectronix with the free installation gear. I just went with the Kenwood from Crutchfield instead though. I was thinking about saving money and just go with the JVC or the Pioneer but I bit the bullet and decided to spend the extra for the Kenwood.

Im just sad all the JVC units I'd want now only have 2.5v preouts.

I have the MP3 cd changer that i use all the time and all, but 5v preouts are almost necessary for me anymore

This is a crazy late post for this topic, but I couldn't help it. I scored a KD-AHD59 for Christmas, and took it back three days later. I found that the JVC's HD receiver got poor reception and it kept toggling back and forth from HD to analog. Also, I got a loud whistling noise with a digital beep when playing my MP3. This never happend with my Sony deck. Lastly, I was unable to control the Ipod from the Ipod, and had to use the deck. This is mind numbily aggravating. As it would happen, I went back to my local shop and picked up an X693. I have read great reviews about it and can't wait to hook it up. I will be putting it in tomorrow and expect that I will be more pleased with it. What's more, the JVC was very difficult when it came to changing stations. It also showed every possible number or character on it's screen, when other numbers were lit. I couldn't wait to get the JVC, and was terribly disappointed once I got it in.

Sorry for the delay, got the X693 in a few days ago and ****ing love it. It is very high tech and has 3 pages in the book, just to explain the "Function" button on the HU. While it is quite involved, detailed, and perhaps a little intimidating, it is really rather user friendly. Looks sexy and sounds great. I am still working on a couple of tuning details, and I don't have my 4ch amp in at the moment, which will make a huge difference. Other than having an issue with my mp3 player (Sansa Fuse) cutting out at high volume levels, the HU is amazing. I strongly recommend it.

my favorite unit i ever had was a jvc, now i got a stupid Alpine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
