JVC AVX2...what volume should it be set on?

Alright Ive had my JVC AVX2 cd player since the first of november and I have set the gains with the volume on 40/50. But I was wondering what the cd player volume really needs to be set on to get all of its voltage out?

Also does it make a difference if:

Say you put the cd player on 40 and set the amp to 40 volts.

would it be the same output if:

the cd player volume was on 46 and you set the amp to 40 volts?

Would there be a difference?
