JVC Arensal

How much do you want to know?

Well, they are a mid-fi product, not high end.

A convertible design... can be mounted coax or separately.

Solves a problem... tweeter goes in the center of the mid, not in front, so there are no reflections from the back of the tweeter, which has historically been a problem with coax speakers.

Creates a problem: for the tweeter to be able to fit inside the mid, it is smaller than many other component sets... probably handles less power and potentially has more distortion. Additionally, JVC is known for their small tweeter school of thought that I don't agree with... they build them to play above 40K hz, beyond human hearing range. Retarded.

It is said that point source drivers are automatically time aligned... however, this is false... in practice, the addition of the crossover will misalign the phase anyway.

Perhaps they have very shallow mounting depth? I could not find mounting depth. But Cerwin Vega V-Max are only 2" or less.

I guess they are okay for the money, you could do worse, but you could also do better. If you need a good sounding coax, or component speaker for that matter, the Cerwins, PPI 356CS, Kicker SS series and new Image Dynamics XS series are the best bang for the buck.
