Just want opinion on Mp3 or audio cds

My pioneer H/U can play mp3,wma or normal audio cds.Do it make it difference? I like the idea of using mp3 and havin tonnes of music over using normal audio cds. Is there a difference that i can tell by ear?

To me there is, usually normal cd's are louder and cleaner. This is b/c when a file is shrunk to mp3 size (they are shrunk so you can fit more, thus so many songs on one mp3 disc) the shrink program cuts out some of the music, background noise etc and it takes some away. But there's not much difference. If you have a deck with BBE you can't tell really.

I think the differences between mp3s and true cd quality depend on:

a) your ears

b) how good your system is(you will not notice the differences as much on a lesser system)

It depends on the bit rate and such.....but frankly, I'm not happy with the quality of most MP3's. Since I've switched to having a higher resolution stereo, it's been original CD's mainly for me.

If you just have an "okay" system (sound quality wise), or the sound quality isn't a HUGE concern of yours, no reason not to use MP3's.

Very true. I know I couldnt tell a difference before I upgraded my comps and deck....
