I recently purchased an Image Dynamics ID8v3 and built a custom vented box with .55ft^3 tuned to 32Hz. Originally looking for SQ and feel this was a great purchase.
After being "out of the game" for several years, this ID8 is sounding great. But, now after being out of the game and getting a taste again, I want louder SPL than the single ID8 is providing.
What options do I have with the limited air space and mounting depth to continue to utilize the extended cab in my 2000 Chevy S10?
Max air space= 0.7 ft^3
Max mount depth= 5.25"
Amp= RE Audio DTS 1000.1: 330w @ 4ohm, 560w @ 2ohm
Completed the "big 3" upgrade this weekend and noticed a definite increase.
Thoughts/ questions:
1) Two ID8's sealed would be somewhat louder but not drop as low as the single ID8 vented?
2) Would a Sundown SD-2 8" ported increase SPL and volume compared to the ID8?
3) Would a Sundown SD-2 10" @ 2ohms ( 560 watts with my DTS 1000.1) in a sealed box be louder and drop low compared to my current ID8 setup?
Just thinking and wondering.
