Just ordered my AQ1200d and a 18" Fi Q. My original plan was to go with a 18" HDC3, but I went with the Fi Q due to the power I have available and i'm going to build a 7cu^3 sealed enclosure for it. Didn't really want to get into the whole ported box since i've never built one before. Can't wait untill I have everything in. This is my first setup thats not "mainstream" brands. Thank all of you guys for showing me the light //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Also if anyone can answer a silly question for me. What size gauge are the power and ground on the amp? I want to go ahead and get everything ready so when everything is here I can put the sub in the box, put the fuse in the fuse holder and start disturbing my neighbors

Sounds good... I see you have the same amp so i'm going with you. Just wasn't sure if the amp would accept that size of wire. I'd hate to buy a 1/0 from battery back and then have to buy a distro block to put a little piece of 2 or 4 in there. Thanks that was my last piece of the puzzle

0 gauge for the power / ground ..
Then 4 gauge fits into the speaker connections ..

Although your sub is most likely 10 gauge or similar ..
Not sure if 4 fits into those speaker connectons. I have a 2200D and I might be able to fit 8. Maybe with reducers you can fit 4.

You'll like the 1200D.

Should be a good combo, i got the same amp on a 15" Q and it sounds great.

x2 i have the same amp, but am going with the 2200D next month //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Might be doing the same in the future, depends if I want to run 2 15" Q's instead of one. If the 2200D is as good as the 1200D im running now im sure i will be happy with it.

im pretty sure its better than the 1200D
Pretty impressed myself with aq so far, i know theres other people out there slamming on them because a few 2200D's in someones build. But other than those i havent heard any problems with aq amps.

Of all the AQ2200D amps in service, and there is a lot of them out there, we have had exactly three returned for service. One was UPS freight damage and two were from the same person who purchased the amps for use in a total new build.

That person fried the amps the instant he turned them on. At the time he thought he fried only the slave and sent the amp in for repair. The repaired amp fried the instant he turned it on. This amp had been bench tested for several hours and was known to be working when returned to the customer.

I then had the customer send in the master amp, the amps were being strapped, and we ran both amps on the test bench for several hours in the strapped mode. After several hours both amps failed with the cause traced back to the "master" amp. We are fairly confident as to why the "master" amp failed which caused the whole series of problems and I will leave it at that. The customer received a new amp along with the again repaired slave amp and I have not heard from him other then to read on one of the forums that both amps were working fine. I do believe he stated that he had done some "power testing" and the amps were doing rated power. He also mentioned he was no longer strapping the amps.

Several of our customers run strapped AQ amps with no problems. The fact of the matter is that only two AQ2200D's have been in for service both belonging to the same person in a new build. Well it did happen and we repaired and replaced the amps. If we are not 100% sure of the failure mode even though we have good reason to believe the problem didn't originate with the amp we give the benefit of the doubt to the customer as any good business should do.

I do know that this customer's problem with his amps has been the subject of many threads on most of the car audio forums bashing the AQ2200D. I am sure that I will see more of the same but that's freedom of speech; this is a tough business and if you can't stand a little heat this is the wrong business to be in.
