Hi,

Is it possible to wire 2 dual 4ohm subs to a mono amp at 2 ohms?

My mono amp has 2 sets of positive and negative connections.

It can do 550 rms at 4 ohms...1100 at 2 ohms and 1600 at 1 ohm.

I have 2 12" Alpine Type R subs (500 rms each)

The only way to wire it to 2 ohms would be 2 ohm stereo. Sounds like you have a Hifonics amp. If so, you can't even do 2 ohm stereo because the + and - are paralleled inside the amp. You can wire to 1 ohm mono though or even 4 ohm mono.

Could these subs handle 1600 rms ok?

If they are 500wrms you won't have a problem running them 1 ohm mono. Just set your gains back a little. Your amp is under rated anyway.

just wire to 1 ohm? rs can take alot of power as long as your gains are set right
