Just installed brand new amp and subs. Amp went into protect mode and turned off.

I just installed a nitro bmw485 amp that I got with my subs. After plugging it up, the power light was green for a few seconds, then it turned red and turned off. I unplugged everything from it but the power cables and still nothing. I put a volt meter on the wires and got 12.68v..so the amp is getting power. The amp never even pushed the subs, it just turned on, then off.

Also I believe its under warranty from the manufacture, but I can't find a contact number or a website for this company. The shop I bought it from won't help..they got really bad service.

I'm sure this amp isn't too good, but it came free with the subs.

The amp doesn't even have any power though. With or without subs, the amp isn't turning on. Also the shop that sold me this combo also sold it to someone else that got it installed there, and his worked fine.

MAKE SURE YOU RCAS ARE GOOD ONES OR YOUR HEADUNIT ISNT BAD AT THE RCA PLUGS. that happened to me and i spent soooo much money sending it to the companies and it was just my rca plugs
doesn't sound like an rca problem.

OP, make sure you have a solid ground. where the amp was grounded any paint should have been sanded away to expose bare metal.

thanks for the welcome, and thanks for all of your guys's help already.

What do you mean test the turn on? I am sort of new to the car audio game, but been wrenching on cars for years.

thericanballer, the amp still won't turn on without any RCA cables attached.

there are 3 power wires going to your amp. 1 is a 12v constant which is coming from your bat, 1 is a remote turn on lead which comes from your head unit (it's very thin, and typically blue) and your ground wire

it doesnt sound like the remote turn on is the problem. without it, the amp wouldn't turn on at all. i'd check for a solid ground, and make sure that all connections are tight.

You should have a power wire, ground wire, and turn-on wire going to your amp (a smaller-gauge wire going to your HU - when the HU sends current through this wire it tells the amp to turn on). Pretty much all amps have this... unless it has an RCA-sensing thing like an old Blaupunkt I had. do you have an input for a remote turn-on on the the amp?

edit: im wondering if it is in fact an RCA-sensing amp... when you installed it did you run a remote wire to the amp?

double edit: nvm i think...

If this is your amp
