sounds like a bad alt to me. But let it run for a while and see if the voltage kicks up a few notches
Oh, and how do I check the amperage coming from the alt? Can I use a regular DMM or do I have to use something else?
x2, the first few days i thought it was actually a ground loop coming through my speakers!mines isnt fused either but mines runs fine. Jus makes a supercharger whine but i know thats due to the fan
You can't even do it with that.you need the $500 clamp that goes into the DMM plugs (if you have a nice DMM like a Fluke etc...) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
advanced auto or oreillys does it for free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifYeah the clicking stopped cuz I tightened the belt a little more and sinched it down real good with the pinch bolt. I don't mind the whine at all, now when I have noise coming through the speakers I'll just say it's the HO altAnyways I'm gonna get it checked to see what it's putting out, but pepboys wanted 20 bucks so I'm over that. I'll take it to my buddies shop eventually. I think I really should fuse that line though cuz that would **** to have to do this install all over again if I blew the alt.
id almost trust those guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif they dont know how to test them ask domYou can't even do it with that.
Go to Auto-Zone or Advance Auto, and ask them to check your alternator. Their machine puts a load on the alternator... and checks it for output and such...
You alternator isn't going to provide 200amps @ idle if it doesn't need to (i.e. no load)... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
