So I got my 220 amp Iraggi alternator today and am in the process of installing it. It came with it's own wiring harness that I have to adapt to my old one. But it came with no instructions and I don't know which wires go to which. Here's a picture of it compared to my old one and a picture of the harness it came with. The thing is massive btw:up2somet:

My old alternator had 2 things attached to it. A thick wire which I'm pretty sure was the ground, and a terminal with 3 smaller wires goin to it that goes into the main wiring harness of the car. One wire is red with a green stripe, the other is yellow with a green stripe, and the other is all white.

Now the new Iraggi harness has 4 wires and I need to know where to attach these to. There's one gray wire, two brown wires, and a slightly larger red wire.

So what wires go to where? And I just run a seperate large guage wire from the positive battery terminal of my battery to the positive terminal on the back of the Iraggi alt right?

i've been calling him all day with no replys to any of my messages. I really need to know where these wires go, obviously my car won't work with no alternator.

i hooked up one of the browns in my truck if im not mistaken

95 chevy blazer...

each make and model is different tho. i lost the directions i was given, sorry. i guessed and shot n scored on the first stripping. lol.

got dom on the phone and he set everything straight. blew a **** fuse though cuz my alt power wire grounded out and all the stores are closed so i'm done for the night i guess

Just how necessary is it to fuse the power wire from the alt to the battery? The power wire from the alt wasn't connect to the battery and accidentally touched the ground post on the battery and it popped a 120 amp fuse under the hood, so doesn't that mean it's protected?

Or should I fuse the large gauge power wire anyways? I'm just sick of spending money and wanna know if it's completely necessary.

to be completely safe u should, but i know many people who dont do it....

if it shorts out ur SOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah I really should fuse it I think, gotta get a cheap fuse holder first though. if it's a 220 amp alternator and I'm using 1/0ga power wire, what size should the fuse be?

I thik DOM works out of his garage or some shit....My 260A Alt didnt come with any harness

and I have still yet to install it,but I am pretty sure those are all powerwires

ones for your gauge, ones to power the BAT,maybe ones for the computer

none should be a GND and I am pretty sure ALTS are self grounding

And I wouldent fuse any of them

Yeah I was wrong about the ground wire, that was the power wire lol. But it's all wired up and working now. Definitly not as quiet as a stock alternator, but I expected that cuz of the external fan blades and larger moving parts. It was one helluva tight squeeze to get this thing in there, I don't have a fullsize truck engine bay it's just a midsize suv. But here she is!

Haha I know my engine is disgustingly dirty. That's from like 3 years ago driving through a puddle of mud that might as well have been a lake lol.

But yeah the ticking is LOUD and it is worrying me. Definitly shouldn't be doing that. Called Dom and he said it's either the belt isn't lined up right, the fan blades are hitting something, or it's got an internal problem.

The belt is definitly lined up and the blades aren't hitting anything so I'm sketching out about it.

When I first started the car it made the normal whining noise, nothing else sounded great. My battery sat at 12.5 with the car off and at 14.5 with the car on and alternator running. But now since the ticking noise has started the battery sits at 12.5 with car running so I'm worried.
