i have my 4-10's sealed but thought i was close to a 150

and i'm only running 1 of my amps.

but joe cline, who helped build danny hays DB drag set up, just came by

to help me design a ported enclosuer.

told me i'm about 145 now.

and that it'll be tough to get a 150 on the TL with what i have.

and that i won't gain much by adding the second amp.

i thought i was alot higher than what i am.

so it's back to the drawing boards for me.

i'm thinking about 2 10" DD over the 4-10" comp VR's

Theoretically, double power= 3db gain. Put on the second amp and build a nice big ported box and see what happens. MDF is alot cheaper than buying new subs.

there's good an bad ported boxes.

if you design one with the strict intention of SPL competition, the gains could very well be more than 3dB at your peak

yea we're gonna meter it next week, but joe gets sponsered by DD so he said i can get those dirt cheap.

the prob with second amp is i'm at 1 Ohm now with one amp and when i add second they will be 2 Ohm each.

i am gonna do a ported enclosure for now.

i want to meter it with sealed and then ported. to see what the gains are.

i am going to meter it at danny hays house so i am gonna take camera and get some pics of his DB drag beast.

you could do alot more with 4 10's... you just need somebody that knows what there doing to help you out. im only running 2 12's and can do a consistant 148.6

and dont get to think'n the cvr's are the problem because i took a bet that i couldnt get a single 12" loud. wound up doing a 145.1 with a 300.1

ya, besides have you ever entered a competition yet?

most local competitors don't do nearly as good as you'd think from listening to the guys who hang out here.

a lot of them have been doing this for a long time.

150dB is ****ing loud. louder than 99% of peoples cars.

and louder than 100% of people who tell you their cars are loud.

i feel you, im scared to get metered. i dont have the beastiest of subs or the biggest amp but my rearview mirror doesnt stay in one position even with one of them blown. i was hoping to at least hit close to/if not 140

first hand, 151db (usaci sb1) 2 10s and 6000rms so it can be done my man, have faith, you need to find out what your car likes as far as tuning, anyone can build a box thats tuned to 45hz, but it wont score the same in an explorer and a honda crx, I wont knock the cvrs, but what your trying to do can be done with dd 3510s/9510,aq hd310s, atomic ap/spl10 and 4k-6k power
