Considering 125 is louder than an average concert, that's pretty good...

concert is a tad over 120db but thats 120db of full range sound, i can do a 150ish playing music on TL and i could listen to it whenever, but i cant take any time being in front of some speakers at a concert, my ears will be messed up for a day or 2, its actually hard for me to even be in front of them

so kinda hard to use that for an example

TL= Term Lab

currently its what the majority of the sound competiton world is using for measurement of sound pressure!

you can get them new on http://www.termpro.com for around 500 ish i think. so its not cheap

thats because they measure sound PRESSURE not the actual loudness...you should be able to be ALOT louder thenthat by just blowing into the meter...

Yep, deffintley the shitty meter from Radio shack. My ? is how did you get 125 dbs on 120db mic? Never used one, just wondering.

Try a local audio store to see if they have a Term lab and some charge to see what you hit, but if you want to know what you really do that is your best bet.

As everyone else has said the ratshack meter is useless. It's also a different weighted scale than the standard term lab IIRC.

i did 134.9 with a single 10" and 350wrms in a trunk. so... how you people are doing less than 135 with 1000+ watts is beyond me. i could have pulled 140 easy with my 10 if at the time i had better electrical. my alt was going bad, and i had a 10 year old battery
