Are you a diver by profession or serious hobby??

Edit: I didn't pay close enough attention to the pics. I assumed with a model name like Seamaster that it was a diver's watch - but it isn't. What makes it so special that normal price on it is $2K??

I can't see that it's anything terribly special - not knocking your purchase, mind you, but I cannot see that it's worth that much over my $200 Seiko which tells the time, the date, and is waterproof as well....

You get what you pay for with watches and omega is a reputable brand, and it seems like you got a hell of a deal. I personally couldnt justify paying over a couple hundred for a watch at this point in my life, but when im out of school and get my first real proffesional job i will probably invest in one or two nice watches. Looks good though!

The watches I get are 15 dollars, and they last me about a year. They are perfect for what I need them to do, give me the time. I'm almost considering getting rid of my watch all together and just using my cell phone for the time.

Seiko makes some good watches, can't deny that. The Omega is fully automatic with a solid movement (which is about $800 alone). The bracelet is $500, no idea why...but that's what it is, superluminous dial adds another $80-100, research and development, name value, etc etc etc. You get the idea. The watch was also serviced by an Omega dealer at the guy's cost of $300, which saves me money in the future. I figure if I ever want to sell it, I can easily get $1000-1200 on ebay.
