Just got hacked!!!

Lol nice. I'm feeling so insecure with just kaspersky and spybot now lol
You have to know what your doing. It could cause a whole lot of system instability with drivers fighting at the kernel level. Most of my security setup is off loaded to various hardware I have to reduce system lag. I do use the Windows 7 built in DEP as well, but thats just an OS function. Downfall is that when i got to college campus Im *****.

If I were you Id get rid of Spybot and use Malware Bytes. Dont run it when the system starts, but rather do a weekly scan. It will reduce overhead.

If you want a good wall, use ESET Smart Security. It's fast, and catches about every virus I've had. The only bad thing is that it doesn't get RID of the viruses. That's what Malwarebytes is for.
This is what I have at home....I think the problem started at work.

Why get rid of spybot and use Malware bytes instead?

I don't really have any slowdown cause of it. My i7-920 is pretty much always idle and I have plenty of ram free. And everything performs snappy and as expected

Honestly I think spybot went downhill a long time ago.

I dunno what your talking about MBAM not focusing on viruses, i mean it's not really an "Antivirus" in the traditional sense, but with two tools in my experience you can remove 99% of viruses like lysol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Personally in my opinion viruses/spyware/malware are all pretty interchangeable nowadays. Yes it's advertised as an "antimalware" tool, but it works better/quicker/more efficient for removing viruses than most options out there.

The two tools to use = combofix and malwarebytes, combofix first IMO. Combofix is great for rootkits and most viruses in general. Honestly trojans aren't even that bad anymore in comparison to nasty rootkits. The only bad thing that combofix had going for it is it didn't support 64bit systems, however since new years it does. Because they only came out with the 64bit version in new years it's a little bit more buggy for them, but no biggie. The main reason they waited so long is because it's main focus is rootkits and most rootkits don't affect 64bit (recently they have started to), however it still knocks out most nasty viruses in the process.

With a paid-for (or less-than-legal) copy of MBAM you can also prevent viruses better than most antivirus programs as well, without many of the annoyances and taking much less resources.
