this. unless you are ready to give up alot of stuff dont get on a team. i made that mistake last year halfway through a build. i couldnt refuse the offer but we learn from mistakes.Mostly, they do competitions and receive sponsorships in various forms (reduced price/free equipment, travel money for comps). Teams join up together usually because people with the common interest of audio live relatively close together and go compete together. Usually, these teams will have vehicles in as many different classifications as possible, trying to take home every 1st place trophy at the show.
It's fun, but for the every day person, it is very hard to have a system that sounds good on music and does well on a meter. There are lots of hours that go into making a vehicle meter well, not just be loud to the ear. More and more people have recently been abandoning the audio competition scene all together (myself included) and focusing solely on daily driver/demo vehicles.
This, I'd rather have "Demo" gatherings than I would meter competitions. Get some people that enjoy audio, get some bystanders. Put them in people's vehicles and let the mayhem ensue.yeah i dont think i would ever join a "team" but i would like to be able to get together with some people in my general area just for kicks. doing this stuff at least tends to be "a little" cheaper than guys tune their cars. i mean sh!! for what i would spend to turbo or super charge my car i could put a seriously mean system in it instead and get a lot more return on my investment should i ever decide to sell it of piece meal.

Which shop in town has a meter?i gave up on comp. just about the same time i started concidering it, lol. really, it's unwanted advertising "jack me" move to me. i built several setups, but could never bring myself to compete officially, just show up at the shop to use the meter. on top of that, i was completely turned off by fart boxes taking high numbers, but really being worthelss in my eyes. the scene is all but dead up here now. just a bunch of daily's and other builds running around everywhere. if there are still competitions, i don't know, or care about them.
there have been a few in town floating around, but safe&sound has always had good meters. i think perfectionist might have one, maybe shimiks, but i don't keep track. aerb was the only other shop i used, and they are long gone, last i checkedLol
