there are plenty of good people that work in this industry..... Despite what many of you believe, the sales guys are typically pretty honest and you can trust most of em. Yes, they're going to steer you towards the gear that they have. You don't make a very good living by saying, "Uh, go to one of our competitors to buy your gear."
The challenge, and the reason so many of these dudes have a bad rep is the fact that they are mis or under informed. Give em' a break. You wouldn't want somebody coming into where you work and give you a hard time. Then post on the the internet what a tool you are cause they said you ought to buy a cap.

Have any of you ever thought of this?????? Maybe the reason that you get treated like shit when you go into these shops is because of the big *** chip you got sittin' on your shoulder? This, the guy at the car audio store couldn't possibly know more about this than I do, I read CA.com everyday attitutude. Trust me, go into the shops, introduce yourself and build a little rapport with the guys that work there. They will give better deals to the people that treat them well and continue to do business with them. Go in there and be a dick and don't be suprised by how you're treated.

right about then i DO think I know more than him...

I just think typically at a place like best buy or CC the salespeople are not necessarily knowledgable or as knowledgable in their field as most "professionals" should be. Of course there are exceptions.

 
yeah i know how you feel... i get pissed when i hear some of the stuff my salespeople say... well mam this $100 pioneer is gonna sound better than any of those other headunits simply because pioneer makes the best radios out there... i'm like what tha?!... and no matter how many times i try to drill... ohms and RMS... they simply forget about it... i'm ready 2 fire 'em all and get knowledgeable people..

I hear you...... There are some real tools out there that work in those places. But, I'll be honest, I really didn't have CC or BB in mind when I wrote this......

 
only bad thing i believe the kicker accoms ended last month...i know the pioneer accoms last till october.. and directed accoms i have no idea when they last ....hey not all salesmen are trying to jerk you......but it is hard to dumb down ur knowledge and say yea those pioneers sound great...but u do what you have to do

the best is when customers come in and you cant tell them different and they swear they know everything..one time i was talking to a customer and some other customer interupted and was like you cant mix and match n like audiobahn amps **** you can only use them on subs...i just backed off and went back to my computer lol....and the guy ended up buying some bazzoka amp cause the guy said mtx amps ****.....

o well as long as i get paid every 2 weeks im good...

oh yeah when ppl ask you think best buy has this cheaper(they whipser the words "best buy")...or they go maybe i should go to best buy..i just tell them do as your plz it dont bother me lol

well i had my interview today at 5:30 - and it went awesome. thing is, he will be hiring for a job in the install bay... none of that 'working the floor first' BS.

i talked to him for a good 45 minutes. interview seemed to go very well IMO. he said he still had two more interviews lined up, another on friday, and one on saturday. and he will call me on monday and let me know.

req, my advice.........Don't wait for them to call you ( if you can help it). If you've got an email address send him an email today thanking him for meeting you. If not it's appropriate to do the same with a phone call. Jus make it as short as possible....

Something like, "Hey, I was calling to thank you for taking the time to talk to me yesterday. Based one what we talked about, I think I'd be a perfect fit in your shop and I'm excited about the opportunity. Thanks, I hope the rest of your interviews go well."

You know, some BS like that. Show em' you're really serious. Like slody said, it's hard for these shops to get quality people in there.
