Yeah i'd feel really bad selling people crap, but really, when you are spending that much money on something, you should research it (if you really care about your money). You should get online and read reviews, find out what is considered quality and what not.
Honestly I would never expect to go into a BB or CC and ask "what is the highest quality receiver here, what here is a good buy" etc, because with money now a days there isn't many salespeople you can trust. (Of course there are exceptions).

there are plenty of good people that work in this industry..... Despite what many of you believe, the sales guys are typically pretty honest and you can trust most of em. Yes, they're going to steer you towards the gear that they have. You don't make a very good living by saying, "Uh, go to one of our competitors to buy your gear."
The challenge, and the reason so many of these dudes have a bad rep is the fact that they are mis or under informed. Give em' a break. You wouldn't want somebody coming into where you work and give you a hard time. Then post on the the internet what a tool you are cause they said you ought to buy a cap.
Have any of you ever thought of this?????? Maybe the reason that you get treated like shit when you go into these shops is because of the big *** chip you got sittin' on your shoulder? This, the guy at the car audio store couldn't possibly know more about this than I do, I read CA.com everyday attitutude. Trust me, go into the shops, introduce yourself and build a little rapport with the guys that work there. They will give better deals to the people that treat them well and continue to do business with them. Go in there and be a dick and don't be suprised by how you're treated.
