May be trading for a Jetta.. The guy cut down the stock shifter mad short, It shifts fine and all but when you put it in reverse, you have to keep your hand there, otherwise it pops out. He said its because its cut down to short. Could this be it or could it be the clutch or transmission? Its only got 42k On it. Anyway thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd stay away.. It shouldn't have anything to do with a shortened shifter. Cutting the shifter handle to make a short throw is ghetto, make me wonder how they cared for the car.

But it could be something as simple as a worn out shifter bushing or signs of internal wear/damage. Does it pop out of any forward drive gears?

Yeah....same kind of person that cuts their springs to lower their car..

only if the knob is hitting something or the shift boot is binding it. thats the only reasoning that it would only do that b/c its cut down. i've cut my shift knob b/c i didnt like how long it was. i dont think thats ghetto.

It doesn't make shifts shorter, it just makes you reach farther to shift. A real short shifter is longer on the linkage end to make a shorter throw while switching gears.

Stay away from the car. Most likely the reverse fork in the ***** is worn or bent.
