Joining the Army, Job Question

Alright I have already signed up and I am going to take the asvab Tuesday but I am looking into the jobs and none of them make sense. I have been wiring houses and doing some industrial work and instrumentation lately... I want to do more than wire a **** house or building.. I want to get into the electronics, like PLC's and Delta V, or something of that nature...

Does anyone have any help they could give me. I know I can go to college later but I would rather do something there that would benifit that. Thanks

I just want to have an idea of what type of job I want before I go in there and them lay out three jobs that they need someone in and say hey pick one..

talk to your recruiter and have them spell it out for you. they are there to help. but do your homework first. Sounds like you jumped the gun signing up without knowing wtf to do in the Army..

gl with that, the army experience doesnt translate to the civilian job market very well
hell no it doesnt

although now my disability has finally been decided so im going to be good

only took 7 month to get an answer

7 months with no income at all

Tell that to Captains getting out after 4 years and being hired by fortune 500s making 100k+ because of their leadership experience in the Army.

Signal Corps sounds for you. Not sure if you can do that as enlisted though.

my best friend has been trying to get a job for 6 months since a 2 year deployment, one of the smartest guys I know, graduated high school top of his class. 4 years of army service and can't get a job.

have got to love our country huh

risk your life for less $ than people make working 40 hours a week at a fast food place

then when you are out no help

that's the exception. what is the ratio of enlisted men to captains? how many of them leave after 4 years? how many accomplish that rank in 4 years?

Not saying that it doesn't happen, but its not exactly what happens most offen

Yup, you gotta love people who read the news and think everyone in the army loves it, then talk to the majority of enlisted men who have been through the bureaucracy and see what they say

Im not the type to want to make 100k, I want to enjoy what I am doing.. When I get out I can still do what I am doing.. Who said I had to know what career I wanted to join? Fighting for the country will make me feel good enough.. I am not to worried about the benefits and money, but what will I be doing in 4 years? Surely I will get more out of the army then what I will get out of what I am doing. I am 20 years old, why not?

enlisted to officer

15/1

captain takes 4 or 5 years depending on if you do ROTC or anything

one thing you really need to know

no matter how long you enlist for you are REQUIRED to give 8 years of service

you can do reserves or whatever but even if you finish the 8 year commitment you can still be called back at any time they want
