What is the deal? I bought this sub and the manuel says its rated to handle 150watts continuous......I go to the website and it states they handle 300watts continuous now. Did I miss something? I remember reading something that in effort to boost sales JL increased their power ratings since typically most consumers base their sub purchases off of how much power they can take.

You definitely don't 'need' to go with a 300W amp just because JL upped the rated thermal power handling... but in JL's recommended enclosures, they will definitely handle close to 300W mechanically... if you think you'll miss the 2-3 dB that doubling power gets you, then get a bigger amp. But it isn't a requirement.
