I've been just researching stuff on the internet and i'm trying to find some con's on JL audio and i can't seem to find any. Does anyone have any that they've had a problem with, or don't like? If so if you can explain why. Just trying to do a little more research on JL and would really appriciate youre input.

nice way to start the day...

its all personal preferance

some people really dont like JL cuz other people dont

some have actually used it and like it

some have used it and didnt like the cost to performance ratio

some hate cuz they cant afford it

Oh boy, I hope this doesn't turn in to one of those threads fighting about JL. From my experience I have found nothing wrong with jl. I used to run 2 12w6v2's. I Loved them. Everyone's biggest gripe is that they are overpriced. If you look awhile and take your time, you'll find a deal. I also like the w7's as well. Really can't go wrong with JL just overpriced compaired to some of the online companies. Just my opinion.

JL is in no way a bad company. They build high quality subs, but they have sky high prices. If you can get a good deal on one, by all means run them. Much better subs are out there for quite a bit less then most of the JL subs...(IA, DC, ID, Fi, Sundown, all have better subs for the price IMO)

Jl sucks ***. I have 2 jl 10w6v2 . Over the last 3 years they've developed a tear in the surround and on 1 of them it has gotten too big to repair my self. So I email Jl they want $155 to replace every moving part on the sub I replied I dont need a recone just need a surround they replied we dont do that. I replied Im basically spending $155 for u to replace my surround. OK so the w6's are now retired and replaced by 2 re sx10d4. Ill never buy another jl product again. No one I could find makes a replacement for the v2 just the v1

JL is like the "name brand" of car audio

much like you'd pay extra for Ralph Lauren clothing or similar.

Ralph Lauren makes basic shirts, but if you put a little horse on the shirt the cost goes up.

you can buy 2-3 shirts for the same price as the Polo shirt but the small differences make you want to buy it

I have 2 jl w7 13.5's and 2 1000/1 amps sitting in my garage, I used one of the 1000/1's to run my RE xxx 15. the bass the amps produce are good clean power, the amps do get a little warm, but if you take and add about 1/2 an inch under the mounting feet to raise the amps off the board, it helps dramatically, at the end of the day, I enjoy the amount of bass the w7's produce, the power is insane, the response is clean and punchy and the low end is totally there almost as deep as my xxx 15. The subs don't need the big huge box that alot of other drivers that are in the same power and size. and for the equipment with out thoughts on price, is amazing, clean, powerful, and does just about everything you can ask of the equipment for what it is.

A friend of mine had two 12" W0s in a small sealed box in the back of a 2000 Celica and it was plenty loud even with 250 watts. A neighbor in college had two 12" W6v2s and a JL 1000/1 in a custom ported box sitting in a 98 Grand Prix coupe and that shit POUNDED, granted he had a 250a alternator and two yellowtops but the amount of bass coming out of his car was pretty insane.

Nothing wrong with JL Audio but I agree that it is kind of overpriced, and yes their amps(especially the ones that can make full power at different impedance) aren't the most efficient out of the bunch. They do perform well though.

That's not that bad for a recone.
