they want 75watts...but they just get all distorted when i turn up the volume at around 25..(max on my alpine 9815 deck is 35)..so im thinking 100-125watts would bring out their full potential...

would this be bad for the speakers or can these guys handle the extra 25-50 watts.

 
No, you'll likely blow the speakers. JL's components dont' like power, they are distorting becuase your speakers are at their limits, not your amp. (those both are probably close) You wouldn't hear an audible difference with that power increase anyway.

 
they actually love lots of power. they just hate clipped signals. turn down your gains a little for now, but in the long run if you want the most out of your components, get a more powerful amp. something that can at least give them 150 watts per set.

 
the jl speakers arent ment to be "loud" they are sq speakers mostly. i had the xr 653 set and swapped them out for what i have now. i lacked room to do a 3 way right but i get better imaging ith what i have now and its more "rock music" friendly
