JL X1/X10 Switch??

I know what its for but........i'm thinking about buying my brother's jl 500/1 and 300/4.

what i need to know if i can go active. the front channels have the X10 switch on the crossover , if it is switched to X10 , will it bandpass the rear channels? Say i want 90hz-3.5khz to mids and 3.5khz-up to my tweeters , can i do that with the 300/4 without using an outboard x-over?
