i dont believe the ssi comes in an 8"
it does now.
what size and style of box do you plan to use and how much power?
the guy at Treo told me they are similar 
but i have never heard a treo. i was curious about them also.
but i have never heard a treo. i was curious about them also.I owned a 15" treo ssi and was pretty impressed for the price. Its spl was about on the same level as my old re HC, but had great sq. Going from the couple of w7 setups ive heard im going to say the w7 would probably sound slightly better, but considering prices I think the treo is a better buy.

the ssi is really bottom heavy. it lacks on the upper bass but goes way low as long as you have tons of power to throw at it. 1000+ watts on the 10". i was happier with my tsx than i was with my ssi. the ssi imo sounds every bit as good as the w7, as long as you have the setup and power behind it.the guy at Treo told me they are similar

i have an 03 M3 and from what a couple installers told me i need to go bandpass
the guy at trio even said the tsx 10 would be better for me. but i like a high quality 8". my buddy had 2 8" W7 and they sounded great
i am just really tossed now as to what to get

I'd say 500w each on the ssi 8's. i think thats what rms is. i had a single ssi 10 off 800w and it could've taken much more.
be diff, treo FTW.
treo and JL are both good names..i know treo is cheaper..i dunno...depends on ur tastes..treo looks nicer with logo and stuff..SSI is there middle line..as w7 is top of the line for JL...Treo can handle more..but then again i heard of a boy that plugged in a 13.5w7 to a light socket and it didnt blow..thats 3000w fromthat light socket...i dunno..peronally i would go with JL..but then again i wanted to buy some treo as well

treo is a good quality product, the top of the line JL (w7) stands no chance up against the top of the line daily driver from treo (ssx).
as for the ssi 8", i would probably think somewhere in the 600-800 watts range, if they claim the rms is 500. i would think that a tsx 10" is a better option though. port it and give it about 1000-1200 watts and you should be rockin pretty good.

Don't mean to threadjack...But ****, I always thought Treo was strictly SPL...Do their higher end subs also have good sq? I've heard they get very loud. I'm looking into 2 LA storm x1.15.v2 (old school storms), but now that I found Treo has some sq, this might be an option....since i am looking for mainly a low end monster

yes, from the tsi to the ssx they all sounds good. the only difference in sound i noticed was the tsx and ssi. those are the only two that have their own sound.

spoke to a tech at JL yesterday and he said for my car as long as mine has the seats that fold down. a ported box would sound great. not that my seats have to be in folded down position just that it is not sealed off he said
he also said the W7 doesn't work well in a bandpass to go with a W6 if bandpass
i think i might just get 1 W7 8' in there HO box and call it a day with there 250/1 amp
