Its a 3 ohm coil. Keep the 1000/1

Use the JL over the RF? They're both 1000 watt amps. I'm just not sure if I can get a bass knob for the JL. My gf is basically my wife. We live together so I gotta do what makes us both happy. I know it sounds gay but it makes life less stressful. We'll probably be engaged within a year. I have to first save for my system first Lmao, before I buy her a ring bc I know when that happens, all our money will go to the wedding. I might add a RF 1500 or 2500 later if I decide to add another w7 so I might end up getting rid of both eventually. I can't believe I'm considering JL. I had two 10 w3s over ten years ago and they were ok but I have an mtx 12 on a 400 watt kicker amp in my Honda and it sounds as good, if not better than the two 10s. And they were both in prefab boxes. I had an 800 watt Autotek on the w3s.

Do you understand how different coils work? The RF if its a 1ohm amp will be giving the W7 about 200 watts. If its 2ohm will give it about 500

No honestly, I don't understand it all that much. The sub is a 3 ohm DVC. I thought i could wire it down to 1.5 ohms since if I use a 2 ohm DVC sub, it will be wired at 1 ohm. I thought you basically get half the ohm on a DVC on a single speaker and on a dual speaker setup, it will go down by half again so if I ran two, I would be at 0.75 ohms Correct me if I'm wrong please.

jl amps run the same amount of watts from 2 ohm to 4 ohm which the rockford does not so if you run it at 3 ohm the jl will be giving more power

It's a 3 ohm SVC not DVC

If the box is junk offer him 250$ for it. That's a fair price for it. W7 can perform well in a properly built box.... I don't think 300$ is too good to pass up if you had your eye on something else.

LOL I remember when I made that pic it was in that thread with the idiot who pretty much thought that was the best woofer ever built and couldnt spell for squat

Yes there are bass knobs for the JL amps. Check eBay they are usually around $20. Your getting a good deal at $550!! You'll be surprised when you you hear it if your comparing it to 2-10" w3's from 10 years ago!! Update this thread after you hook it all up and let us know how you like it. So the guy says its not hooked up so I won't be able to see it working. Is there something I should look for when I go to see it?
