JL W7 13 or FI Q 15

you get what you pay for thats why JL stuff costs so much and JL hits like a ***** with the best sound quality out there well the 15 fi q is strictly spl but personally i think the 13w7 sounds alot better and hits just as hard easily

1) He's on the forums.
2) He's talking with a bunch of people on the forums.

3) Fi is the forum boner. Everyone has them.

Theres many more forum boners than just Fi, DD is definitely one of them, as is RE to an extent. Stereo Integrity was at one point. Like I said though, the amount of people with JL is 10x more than those with Fi, so by getting Fi, he would be being different.

I've only heard a W7 13 in a sealed box and run a 15" Q in a ported box in the GF's car. I'd take the Q based on price alone. I wasn't all that impressed with the JL, it sounded decent and got pretty loud & low, but the Q does that also for a LOT less $$$.

I've personally hear the W7 at the only authorized JL dealer in the area, in a truck where they were building and audio/visual system for the customer. it was in a yukon, fully deadened, with the best jl components and on a 1000/1 and I honestly was expecting alot more from what everyone has been saying about it, but honestly my brothers old 15 tc9 based AE was just as loud than that. The SQ wasn't as good as the dub 7 but then again his 15 tc2000 and my fiQ sound alot better than the AE while getting just as loud. Don't get me wrong it is a great SQ woofer, and gets real loud, but there isn't anything IMO that blows you away from what you hear from other great woofers out there to warrant the cost. Even the owner of the shop was surprised of the output of the old tc-9/15AE woofer compared to the dub 7. just my 2 cents from my experience

1. you dont know what a q is and i bet within a month you will want one (if you stay at this forum)

Mag.....Better low end, and the cone area of the 15 more than makes up for the excursion of the w7. I say, in all aspects, the mag 15 beats out the w7.

Or he could do a pair of idmax's. If he has the cash, I would go that route.

Both the mag and the idmax sound better to my ear. Just my .02.

I'm running a ported 13w7 and its so smooth. Low end sounds great and it sounds smazing on both rap and rock. Only downside to the w7s are the price and the upper bass. If you go w7 make sure to have some decent mid bass.
