JL W7 13 or FI Q 15

I had my heart set on a getting a W7 13, but my one of friends is trying to sell me on getting a FI Q 15 which, he says, can give me about the same sound quality and spl but at a much cheaper price tag. I some want some outside opions on the comparison of the two, and have any one seen the two of them go head to head? OOh and by the way , I plan on using the 1000/1, if I go with the 13, and alpine's pdx 1000.1, if I go with the FI Q 15.

i would go with the jl audio 13w7 because i have 2 12w7 and i love the sound quality and there hard hitting and the 1000/1 is great for the w7

I'd take the Q, if only for price reasons, but the Q is also a helluva driver.

Either would be good though.

I've only heard a W7 13 in a sealed box and run a 15" Q in a ported box in the GF's car. I'd take the Q based on price alone. I wasn't all that impressed with the JL, it sounded decent and got pretty loud & low, but the Q does that also for a LOT less $$$.

My friend's sealed W7 did have better low end than my old Fi Q and were about the same SPL wise. But honestly I don't really think the woofers are comparable anyway.

If you have the money I would suggest the W7, if on a budget the Q is more than good enough.

^^ x2, W7 is a better driver, but the Q is also an awesome driver for the price. I would say try and find a Stereo Integrity Magnum 15", has better SQ than either and should be just as loud.

SQ is in the ear of the beholder...each person is different, it's not logical to say that it's going to sound better.

Anyway, both are excellent drivers. Unfortunately I didn't get to listen to either for an extended time, honestly if you have the money I'd say W7, but if you want to keep costs down, then the Q is also an excellent choice.

I would love to own a W7 in any size, but I am not willing to pay what JL charges for them, so the Q for me.

you get what you pay for thats why JL stuff costs so much and JL hits like a ***** with the best sound quality out there well the 15 fi q is strictly spl but personally i think the 13w7 sounds alot better and hits just as hard easily

No it's not. If anything from Fi is strictly SPL I'd say the BTL would fit that criteria, the Q is FAR from an SPL only driver.
