I have a JL 10W2v2 with a JL 250/1. I just purchased a 10W3v3 and plan to use the 250/1 to push it. Will I tell a big difference? For 200.00 I hope I do. I put some polyfil in the box with the W2 and I must say the difference was very noticable. I hope the W3 will be better, the audio store I bought the W3 said that the W3 would give me a better, clearer thump.............is this straight or bull?

So it should be a noticable step up from the 10W2??
i dont know what the 10w2 sounds like so i wouldnt be able to give you a clear choice...

but just comparing specs the w3v3 will definatly get alot louder... some people run anywhere from 300-600rms on it and it still sounds amazing

so im guessing if its powered right you'll notice the difference

EMSDAD,,This is 02 SENTRA,I have had 2 of the w1v2-2 -10" version in a sealed enclosure wired to 2 ohms powered by an MRP-350 that produces 350 watts @ two ohms. The source unit is an Alpine 9847 with 4 type "s" co-ax and a Type "S' component set in doors, powered by the Alpine mrp-450-F-4-channel amp.- -That slammed very nicely. My friend that has the 2-w-1v-2 10" with the 250/JL amp couldn't out push me with the same speakers/box set-up.In August,I went to upgrade I now have the 10w3-3-4 'swired at 2 ohms with a 1.25 ' vented enclosure,I always run woofers in pairs,I am powering the 2- 10W3-4's with the MRP-m-650.That amp has a birth sheet of 638 rms at 2-ohms.The w-3 is rated at 300 rms- -600 max.I'm putting about 315 rms per speaker w/the 650 amp. They kick-a-- with that set up.I have heard the speakers with an mrp-1005-with 2 ohms-wiring---500 rms per speaker-all it did was distort the speakers faster. It didn't sound any better.Good Luck!!02 SENTRA out---------------------

You need a 500/1 to push those or another 250/1. Then youll hear a diff. I have a 500/1 to a pair of 10w1 sealed and it sounds loud and tight. Theres nothing wrong with a little too much power as long as you use it responsibly.

So if I am understanding everyone the W3 is better but I need more power. My space is limitted and I guess I will take the sub back and stick with the W2. I am happy with the W2 but ike everyone else I want more. Thank You for the input.

space is limited???....

JL's recommends that a sealed enclosure for a single 10W3V3 should be .625cf or 1.25 for a ported box

if you dont have space for a .6cf box how are you running a 10w2?

10W2's arent recommended in sealed boxes, and JL says no less than 2.5cf for a ported box on the 10w2.....

The W2 requires .625 just as the W3 according to the spec sheet. The difference is the depth of the W2 is 4.25" and for the W3 is 5.93" I can get the W3 in there but it is really tight. The enclosure I built is .56 cu ft. I thought I could put some polyfil to help. I put polyfil in the W2 box and it made a huge difference. I just dont want to spend another 400.00 for the 500/1. What I have is good but like I said I wanted more low end.

I spoe to a JL rep and he said the 250/1 would push the 10W3 just fine. He said that the 500/1 would work too if wired properly. I will install and inform of how the two compare.........10W1 and 10W3
