JL w3 12" vs alpine type R 12"

Agreed, but overall, I would recommend the Type R, it gets a hell of a lot louder. I had 2 12" 12W3v2's and 2 12" Type R's and the R's are WAY louder...

Yeah I just said the R's will be **** louder, like I said I've had both and I would recommend the R's. I think the JL's are cheaper, but you get more bang for your buck with the R's. You can feed them 700-800rms daily and they won't even break a sweat.

If you're going ported, forget about sound quality and go with the R's. Yes big difference, different power handling, different motor/cone structures, too many differences/variables...

ya well like my sig says ive got a type r in my trunk right now in a ported mtx thunder box running off a hifonics bxi 1608d at 2 ohms-1100w rms off a stock battery and alt and im pushing close to 140 dbs.... off 1 12 ive just never had a jl w3 so idk how they are figured id ask to give him an informed decision

thx alot btw guys

W3's haven't really impressed me sealed or ported. 2ft^3 @ 33 for that type R will get loud and low with some decent clarity. If the DUb3's were at the same price as a type R I'd say get those, but Type R's have W3's beaten IMO considering price, quality, and abilities.

Type-Rs will be much louder, a friend of mine went directly from W3s ported to Rs ported and was drastically louder w/ only 500 watts each. Bumped it up to about 750 watts each and it was a loud budget build for sure.

If they are in the correct box and setup right they can sound pretty damn good. Idk why others are saying go ported w/ Rs but forget about SQ.

I have both as well. Gotta love the Type R though. JL stuff sounds good, but can't take the power of an alpine. Plus, i love the Type R's build. It's a real strong and durable sub.
